There are 10 tunes on the disc, nine of them composed by the leader himself. The one exception is a Cedar Walton composition "Hingsight". This is one of those recordings that truly proves that Jazz is in good hands as it evolves and shifts moving forward.

New CD "The Undying Spirit" from drummer E.J. Strickland on Strick Muzik
Drummer E.J. Strickland has a new release called "The Undying Spirit" on the Strick Muzik label. Joined by Jaleel Shaw - Alto Sax, his brother Marcus Strickland - Tenor & Soprano Saxophones, Luis Perdomo - Piano, and Linda Oh - Bass. An incredible recording that quickly grabbed my full attention just a few bars into the first tune which by the way is called "Ride". And a great ride it is throughout.

There are 10 tunes on the disc, nine of them composed by the leader himself. The one exception is a Cedar Walton composition "Hingsight". This is one of those recordings that truly proves that Jazz is in good hands as it evolves and shifts moving forward.
