Drummer & Vocalist Bobby Kapp on "OuT\sIdE:In/SiDe!oUT"

"OuT\sIdE:In/SiDe!oUT" on Jazz from Gallery 41

Drummer / Vocalist Bobby Kapp
Thursday July 30th at 10 pm Pacific
Will re-broadcast Saturday August 1st at noon Pacific

Bobby Kapp was an important figure in the so-called "new music" Jazz era of the 1960's in NYC.
He performed and recorded with artists like Archie Shepp, Marion Brown, Norris "Sirone" Jones, Calo Scott...and many others, including playing drums on "In Search of The Mystery" on ESP-Disk by saxophonist Gato Barbieri, a recording that was Gato's first as a leader and first recording he made in the U.S.

Bobby comes by the studio whenever he is in the San Francisco area, and we have recorded many hours of conversation, getting caught up on what his latest projects are, and just how life is in general.  He now lives in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, but still has been very busy.  He's recently produced and released several albums with Matthew Shipp, Ivo Perlman, Ras Moshe, William Parker, Tyler Mitchell...and again, many others.

He's happens to be in NYC for a while and we talked just the other day to pick up on an ongoing conversation to produce a special webcast with an incredible trio that's in the works.  Can't give you all the details until everything is in order, but it will be something you won't want to miss and it will be happening soon.

Putting together this program I initially thought I'd take a little bit from each of all our recorded conversations, but when I started listening to the talk we had the first time he came by in August of 2012 I decided to start with right there, build this show around that afternoon, and simply call it Bobby Kapp: Chapter One.  We covered everything Bobby has done with music, everything from the blues to the avant-garde.

Jazz from Gallery 41 streams around the world 24/7 with live programs Monday thru Friday from 12 noon-3 pm Pacific, including occasional in-studio guest, conversation and occasional live performances.  There are many portals around the world that carry Jazz from Gallery 41.  Do come by and share the music whenever you can.
