New Releases Now On Jazz from Gallery 41....

2016 has really started off as a tremendous year for new music.  Here is a short list of just a few of the new releases now heard on Jazz from Gallery 41.

New from Posi-Tone is guitarist Ed Cherry "Soul Tree", a great trio date with organist Kyle Koehler and drummer Anwar Marshall.

Organist Larry Young "In Paris / The ORTF Recordings".  Featuring never before released live and studio material from 1964-1965 by the iconic and legendary Larry Young.  Featured with Larry are Woody Shaw on trumpet, Nathan Davis on saxophone, drummer Billy Brooks and numberous French artists such as pianist Jack Dieval, saxophonist Jean-Claude Fohrenback and drummer Feranco Manzecchi.  Available as 2 CD and Limited Edition 2 LP sets, mastered by the legendary Bernie Grundman.

In Paris: The ORTF Recordings [2 CD][Deluxe Edition]

Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra "All My Yesterdays: The Debut 1966 Village Vanguard Recordings".  The first official release of the opening night recording of this mighty and powerful band at The Village Vanguard in NYC recorded February 7, 1966 along with recordings done the following month on March 21, 1966.

Stan Getz "Moments In Time" features newly discovered music by Stan and his quartet that included Joanne Brackeen, Clint Houston, and Billy Hart, recorded live in 1976 at The Keystone Korner in San Francisco.

A companion to "Moments In Time" is "Getz/Gilberto '76" never before released recordings by Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto from The Keystone Korner in San Francisco with Joanne Brackeen, Clint Houston, and Billy Hart.

Esperanza Spalding presents her latest project "Emily's D+Evolution" as a rekindling of her childhood interest in theater, poetry and movement delving into a broader concept of performance.  As she puts it, "Emily is my middle name, and I'm using this fresh persona as my inner navigator.  This project is about going back and reclaiming un-cultivated curiosity, and using it as a compass to move forward and expand...".

"Groundwork" from drummer Willie Jones III on WJ3 records.  Strong performances with bassist Buster Williams, trumpeter Eddie Henderson, Eric Reed playing piano, Warren Wolf (vibes), Steve Davis (trombone), Stacy Dillard (tenor saxophone).
