Nels Cline & Julian Lage "Room", new on Mack Avenue Records. An incredible new duet recording of all originals composed and performed by these two forward-thinking and genuinely creative guitarists.
Saxophonist Jimmy Greene's family was impacted forever on December 14, 2012 when they lost their daughter Ana in the senseless tragedy that occured that morning at Sandy Hook School. Released on Mack Avenue Records under the title "Beautiful Life", in Jimmy's words "...this album attempts to paint the picture of how she lived - lovingly, faithfully and joyfully". The list of musicians who participate include Pat Metheny, Kenny Barron, Renee Rosnes, Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Javier Colon, Cyrus Chestnut, The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, The Linden School Early Years Choir...and so many others. I am humbled by the depths of the strength, love, devotion and conviction which with Jimmy conveys his daughter Ana's story.
Branford Marsalis stood alone among the people who filled San Francisco's Grace Cathedral October 5th of 2012 and created "In My Solitude: Live At Grace Cathedral" just released on Okeh Records. An eclectic mixture of music from Bach to Steve Lacy to Hoagy Carmichael...Marsalis...it's all here.
