Jazz from Gallery 41 - Updating Playlist With New Releases



Streaming around the world 24/7 including live broadcasts Monday thru Friday 11 am to 2 pm PST from our studios overlooking the San Francisco Bay, we just updated our playlist with some of the really terrific new releases that have arrived lately.  Come on by and share the music with us whenever you can.

Here's a just short list of some of what was added today:

The new Wayne Shorter Quartet recording "Without A Net" on Blue Note.  Joining Wayne are Danilo Perez / piano, John Patitucci / bass, Brian Blade / drums.

Pat Metheny "The Orchestrion Project" on Nonesuch Records is the new 2-cd release that features Pat with his Orchestrion, a computer controlled mini-orchestra capable of responding to his touch on guitar.

Asuka Kakitani Jazz Orchestra.  Born in Japan, she moved to New York City in 2005 and has just released her debut recording under the title "Bloom" on 19/8 Records.  Incredible writing and arranging, and playing by all including the likes of Mark Ferber, Jacob Garchik, Matt Holman, John Baileyh, Dave Ambrosio and everyone else in the band.

Chris Potter's new ECM release is called "The Sirens" and features his deeply moving and intriguing compositions inspired by "The Odyssey".  Chris plays tenor and soprano saxophones and bass clarinet along with Craig Taborn, David Virelles, Larry Grenadier and Eric Harland.
