Jazz from Gallery 41 / New Releases

Some great new releases have come into the Gallery 41 library the past couple of weeks.

These include:

James Zollar / Zollar Systems: Trumpeter James Zollar's excellent new release on JZAZ Records showcases his brilliant tone with the likes of Stacy Dillard on saxophone, Ugonna Okegwa on bass, Rick Germanson on keyboards among others.

Tineke Postma / The Traveller: Hailing from The Netherlands saxophonist Tineke Postma is joined by Geri Allen, Scott Colley, and Terri Lynne Carrington on a collection of 8 originals and and ninth composition by Villa Lobos. Ms. Postma is truly the genuine article...a marvelous recording.

Origin Records always produces some great cds, this latest batch includes new releases by Hadley Caliman, Aaron Immanuel Wright, Gail Pettis, and Dan Dean.

Trumpeter Ron Horton's new release, on Abeat Records, is called "It's A Gadget World". It features pianist Antonio Zambrini, bassist Ben Allison, and drummer Tony Moreno

The genuinely unique and certainly electic Charlie Hunter has come out with a new release called "Gentlemen, I Neglected To Inform You You Will Not Be Getting Paid"....some very fun and funky stuff!!!

From right here in the San Francisco Bay Area comes something new from trumpeter Ian Carey and his new quintet that features Adam Shulman on keyboards and Evan Francis on reeds and flutes...it's called "Contextualizin'". All originals, great playing by all.
